Unlike other products, which only emit negative ions, the positive and negative ions released by this product makes it more advanced. Without positive ions, the negative ions can cause suspended particles to form aggregates, increasing its weight until they fall. They are actually not removed from the room. Because they stay on your floor, there is a possibility that they can return to air through air currents and foot traffic and changes in atmospheric electrical charge. Nevertheless, with plasmacluster, the ions attach themselves to airborne particulates, including molds, bacteria, viruses and pollen. In addition, a hydroxyl radical will be created to oxidize and destroy the pollutant. Hydroxyl radicals are among the most powerful oxidizers known. 

An added bonus of the plasmacluster technology is that you need not wait for pollutants to become airborne, because it can remove toxic chemicals, which are not airborne. Unlike with air purifiers that uses HEPA technology, which provides passive filtration: waiting for chemicals to be airborne for it to be purified. 

The Sharp air purifier product is also sensor driven; chip controlled and is not prone to error or electronic malfunction. This makes the product a truly state of the art in automation and smart technology. However, the ion plasmacluster function is manually controlled, but the user can make it completely automated. Optimizing noise, energy use, filter life and purifier life expectancy. 

The product also has a four-pound bag of granular activated carbon as the volatile organic compound filter. This removes gas and odor inside your homes. You will not have to worry about replacing this filter because it is washable. The filter fits loosely to allow some air to slip past, increasing the filter life. Together with the plasmacluster oxidizing function, you are assured that chemicals are removed. 

However, the seal and gaskets of their product is not very tight fitting, but this made the product lighter, prolonging useful life and lowering noise to a whisper.
